Local Meat Farms for Quality Poultry
POSTED: 06/24/2022
Now more than ever, consumers want to know where their food is coming from. Here at Maple Leaf Farms, we offer a clear picture of our farm to fork process so you can serve our products with confidence.
Our company works with more than 150 local farm families to bring you high-quality duck products. Each farm raises our ducks according to our Trident Stewardship Program guidelines, which are informed by research and input from poultry scientists and veterinarians. This program ensures our partner farms properly care for our ducks, protect their health and conserve our natural resources.
Maple Leaf Farms also works with local farmers to procure the grains needed to feed our birds. This allows us to ensure the safety and quality of our feed as proven by industry certifications our company-owned feed mill has earned.
Our Farmers Feel a Deep Connection to their Land
Our family values and pride in our heritage starts at the farms. Many of our farmers have been farming their land for generations. In fact, many are operated by Amish farmers that involve the entire family in the farming process. Multiple generations are trained on how to provide outstanding care to our ducks. Each farm understands the importance of biosecurity and the necessary precautions that need to be taken to keep our ducks safe and healthy.
Our Live Production & Veterinary Staff are a Valuable Resource
Properly caring for our birds is critically important. Although our farmers are trained and certified through our Trident Stewardship Program, we provide additional support through routine visits by our live production staff and veterinarians.
Our Duck Feed is Grown in our Backyard
Our location in northern Indiana is perfect for our duck farms because of the abundance of corn, soybeans and wheat grown in the region. Our duck feed is crafted with locally sourced corn, soy and wheat as well as essential vitamins and minerals. It is so natural you could eat it! In turn, the duck manure from our farms is carefully used as fertilizer to help grow crops locally. This is all part of our sustainability and stewardship practices we use at Maple Leaf Farms.
Sustainability Starts Local
At Maple Leaf Farms we strive to be a sustainable business. We want what is best for the environment and believe that sustainability not only helps our organization but improves our communities as well. By working with local farms, our Corporate Sustainability Team is able to utilize centralized programs for recycling and reducing water and fuel use.
By working with local farmers who know their land and care about their communities, Maple Leaf Farms is your source for sustainable duck products. For more information on our commitment to sustainability, check out our farm to fork story.
