Founded in 1958, Maple Leaf Farms was started with the mission of producing duck products with “quality you can count on.” Although our fourth-generation family business takes great pride in our heritage, we are committed to fostering the next generation of innovation to carry out this vision.
Vertically Integrated
Because Maple Leaf Farms is vertically integrated, we control the quality at each step of our farm-to-fork process. From breeding White Pekin ducks that have more meat and are 30% leaner than our competitors to developing value-added products that meet the needs of busy chefs and home cooks, we’ve used our more than 60-years of experience to streamline our production processes.
Hand-Crafted Feed
As a vertically integrated poultry company, Maple Leaf Farms sources all our feed ingredients and manufactures duck feed at our own feed mill. Our feed never contains antibiotics or added growth hormones and our feed mill undergoes food safety audits through the American Feed Industry Association’s Safe Feed Safe Food program. Plus, we’re the only duck company in the U.S. that crafts their own feed in-house.
Animal Well-Being
You can also be assured of how we care for our flocks and the environment. Through the Maple Leaf Farms Trident Stewardship Program, we created the animal well-being standard for the duck industry. The program entails measures for three major areas throughout our company — duck care and handling, biosecurity, and natural resources conservation — supported through training, certification and audit systems. Our program is also third-party audited by a PAACO (Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization) professional.
Quality Assurance
Our customers can be confident in the world-class food safety of our duck products. We go above and beyond the required tests and quality assurance checks. In fact, for more than a decade, our food processing plants have undergone global food safety audits performed by the British Retail Consortium, earning excellent AA marks each year for top quality.
