Maple Leaf Farms Donates 40 Tons of Poultry for Hunger Relief
Leesburg, Ind. (November 30, 2021) –Throughout 2021, Maple Leaf Farms donated more than 40 tons of poultry products to food banks and pantries, including locally operated Milford Food Bank and Combined Community Services.
“Our family-owned company is proud to work with hunger relief organizations that serve such a vital role in our community,” said Co-President Scott Tucker. “We know it is often a struggle for these groups to provide high quality protein to the populations they serve, and we love to lend a helping hand when we can.”
In addition to donating food to local organizations, Maple Leaf Farms also partners with the Feeding America network to support hunger relief efforts in other parts of the U.S.
“Although the majority of our charitable giving is focused on our local communities, we sometimes have the opportunity to donate products in other parts of the country,” said Co-President John Tucker. “We are thankful for the work that Feeding America does to feed more than 40 million people each year in the U.S.”
Governor Holcomb recently recognized Maple Leaf Farms and other poultry companies in Indiana during a ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse for the poultry industry’s combined donation of 200,000 pounds of food in 2021.
“The poultry industry in Indiana is extremely generous,” said Maple Leaf Farms CEO Scott Reinholt. “It should be commended for stepping up to help so many who have been challenged by the pandemic.”
