The World Food Championships (WFC) is set to hold its "Final Table" competition in Indianapolis August 8-9. Maple Leaf Farms is sponsoring a key challenge during the competition, which could earn the winner $100,000.
Competitors who make it the second round will recreate a beloved dish by local Chef Greg Hardesty – Roast Duck Breast with Crispy Duck Spring Roll, Fried Wild Rice and Dried Cranberry Duck Jus -- with Maple Leaf Farms duck, of course. Chef Hardesty is a four-time James Beard Award winner and owner of the nontraditional pop-up restaurant called Studio C in Indianapolis. He will also serve on the judging panel.
The World Food Championships is billed as the highest stakes food competition in the world. This multi-day, live event culinary competition showcases some of the world's best cooks who compete for food, fame and fortune in 10 categories. The Final Table is the crescendo of the competition with 10 champions from each of the different food categories competing.
